Patients are paired with volunteers who are themselves survivors of gynecologic cancer. I knew very early in the volunteer experience that my own fears about the potential outcome of an ovarian cancer diagnosis would be heightened.
Woman to Woman is a mentor support program that pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained survivor mentors who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring to women when they need it most.

Teen mothers of the Woman to Woman Program: Graduate high school The program provides one-on-one mentoring from trained volunteers, weekend retreats, workshops, parent seminars, and linkage with educational and vocational services. Interested in applying for a grant to bring Woman to Woman to your area? There are many ways you can be a part of making your community better by working with Gulf Coast JFCS. Monthly workshops taught her about parenting, anger management, healthy relationships and goal setting among other skills. Women in treatment feel hopeful they too will have a positive outcome and receive information and support only women who have had a similar experience can provide. Starting immediately after the initial cancer diagnosis - which includes cervical, uterine (endometrial), ovarian, vulvar, peritoneal, vaginal and fallopian tube cancers - and continuing through to recovery, the volunteers are available to provide assistance and support by phone, email or in one-on-one meetings.
Recognizing the importance of peer support, Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) was a long-time supporter of W2W at Mount Sinai, and in 2011 expanded the program nationally as OCRA’s signature support program.
