On September 5, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., after playing Boyz II Men's "I'll Make Love to You", The station then began stunting with a loop of 15 songs, ranging from Blondie's "Heart of Glass" to Avril Lavigne's "Complicated". Like WPST, WTHK was owned by Nassau Broadcasting and licensed as a station serving Trenton.

Greater Media announced on September 21, 2012 that it would sell 950 WPEN to Family Radio, which began carrying its Christian radio programming on the station on December 21, 2012 at 6:00PM., ending the simulcast of WPEN-FM.

Unfortunately, ratings declined even more.

The station's "Adult Standards/Nostalgia" format was an original concept of Julian Breen, and later programmed by Joe Taylor, Paul Mitchell, Dean Tyler, Stan Martin, Charlie Mills and Bob Craig. Three days later, on September 8, at 9 a.m., "Now 97.5" made its debut as a Hot AC station, and positioned itself as "a younger approach to today's soft rock," competing with the market AC leader, WBEB ("B-101"). WPEN-FM was Philadelphia's only FM sports station for its first two years until CBS Radio owned rival WIP moved to FM, replacing WYSP. The music at that time consisted of artists such Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Mills Brothers, Tommy Dorsey, Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Pat Boone, Tony Bennett, and many others.
Nassau Broadcasting chose to leave the final necessary step, the actual relocation of the 97.5 transmitter, to the eventual buyer, which would turn out to be Greater Media.

On October 31, 2008, at 5:00 p.m., the station switched to all-Christmas music. When the deal closed in January 1975, Greater Media immediately took the stations off the air for some badly needed engineering upgrades.

Including WJBR-FM in nearby Wilmington, Delaware, it gave the Philadelphia market five Christmas formatted stations in 2008.
Shortly thereafter, adult standards AM station WHAT also started playing an all-Christmas format.

Also, during the 1960s, an evening interview show hosted by Frank Ford was broadcast on weekdays.

Teddy Reinhart was the producer. In early 2007, WPEN was able to increase its daytime power from 5,000 to 25,000 watts. [9], On July 19, 2016, the Beasley Media Group announced it would acquire Greater Media and its 21 stations (including WPEN) for $240 million. WKDN is owned and operated by Family Stations, Inc. and airs several Christian ministry broadcasts from noted teachers such as RC Sproul, Alistair Begg, Ken Ham, John F. MacArthur, Adriel Sanchez, Dennis Rainey, John Piper, & others as well as traditional and modern hymns & songs by Keith & Kristyn Getty, The Master's Chorale, Fernando Ortega, Chris Rice, Shane & Shane, Sovereign Grace Music, Sara Groves, & multiple other Christian and Gospel music artists. The change became effective on October 3, 2005.

WPEN (97.5 FM, "97.5 The Fanatic") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to serve Burlington, New Jersey, in the Philadelphia radio market. As entertainment programming moved from radio to television, WPEN evolved into a popular music format in the early 1950s.
