There is a boat ramp down the way, too.For us campers, there was a loud generator running off in the distance which was mildly annoying, not apparently in the park though.Unlike last poster, the park is clean with no garbage laying around.The bathroom facility is old but relatively clean and functional. Each picnic table has its own grill, and water nearby. But, I came 2,500 miles just to see Rio Grande Valley birds at this time of year.
Nearby points of interest include Lake Casa Blanca International State Park and Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park (part of the World Birding Center); Falcon Dam, with a memorial to the joint US-Mexico project; Nuevo Guerrero, built across the border after Falcon Reservoir engulfed old Guerrero in 1953; Mexico; Fort Ringgold in Rio Grande City, established in 1848; the City of Roma, which was founded in 1768 and is currently restoring several old buildings. This may not be one the fanciest parks with the most fantastic views in all Texas. Hiking, fishing, cooking out, cycling, camping. I called the office & a state trooper came to access the problem.

We had a good birding day, but not because of the park service but because of the campers. Turn West on FM 2098 to Falcon Heights.
